Dear Viking Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year at William R. Davie Middle S.T.E.M. Academy!

I am excited and honored to begin my fifth year serving the Davie community as Assistant Principal. Each year, I become even more inspired by the resilience, determination, and potential of our students, as well as the dedication of our families, teachers, and staff. Together, we have made tremendous progress, and I look forward to continuing our journey toward excellence this school year.

The 2025–2026 school year demonstrated what can happen when students, families, and educators work together toward a common goal. Through hard work, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous improvement, we experienced significant academic growth and strengthened our school culture. This year, we will build on that success as we continue to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every student can thrive.

As Assistant Principal, I remain committed to supporting student achievement, fostering positive relationships, and ensuring that all students have access to the resources and opportunities they need to be successful. In addition to serving as Assistant Principal, I will continue to oversee student testing, transportation operations, and other critical areas that help ensure the smooth functioning of our school.

At Davie, we believe that every student has the ability to achieve great things. Through rigorous instruction, STEM-focused learning experiences, positive behavior supports, and strong partnerships with families, we will continue preparing our students to become confident learners, responsible leaders, and productive citizens.

Together, we will continue to create opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and achieve at the highest levels.

Ms. Crystal Burgess proudly serves William R. Davie Middle STEM Academy as both a school secretary and a bus driver, bringing a unique blend of professionalism, care, and commitment to every role she fulfills. With several years of service in Halifax County Schools, Ms. Burgess is a trusted and familiar presence to students, families, and staff.

As the school secretary, Ms. Burgess supports the daily operations of the school by assisting students, families, and staff with efficiency, kindness, and attention to detail. As a bus driver, she plays a vital role in ensuring students arrive to and from school safely, greeting them each day with a warm smile and a positive spirit.

Ms. Burgess believes deeply in serving students and families and takes pride in building strong relationships within the school community. Her dedication, reliability, and willingness to serve wherever needed make her an invaluable member of the Davie team. She is committed to supporting a safe, welcoming, and student-centered environment where every child can thrive.

Mr. Keshawn Haskins serves William R. Davie Middle STEM Academy as the bookkeeper, athletic director, and coach, playing a vital role in both the operational and extracurricular success of the school. He has been an employee of Halifax County Schools for three years and is deeply committed to serving students and families.

As bookkeeper, Mr. Haskins ensures the school’s financial operations are managed with accuracy and integrity. In his role as athletic director, he works to build strong, student-centered athletic programs that promote teamwork, discipline, and school pride. As a coach, he is especially passionate about basketball and enjoys mentoring student-athletes both on and off the court.

Mr. Haskins believes in the power of athletics to shape character and develop young people. He is dedicated to helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally, and he values building meaningful relationships with students and families.

Mr. Haskins earned his degree in Sports Management from Winston-Salem State University, where he graduated in 2023. He is proud to be a part of the Davie community and is committed to supporting the school’s mission of developing well-rounded, future-ready students.

Ms. Jazmin Pitts serves as the school counselor at William R. Davie Middle STEM Academy and is dedicated to supporting the academic, social, and emotional success of all students. She brings a caring, student-centered approach to her work and believes strongly in partnering with families to help students thrive.

Ms. Pitts earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from East Carolina University. Her educational background, combined with her passion for mental health and well-being, allows her to support students through counseling services, guidance, and advocacy.

Ms. Pitts is deeply committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where students feel heard, valued, and empowered. She enjoys helping students develop coping strategies, build confidence, and navigate both academic and personal challenges. Her work is guided by a genuine desire to serve students and families and to promote overall wellness within the school community.
