8th Grade Promotion/Awards Ceremony Parent Information Sheet

Tuesday, June 2, 2026 | 10:00 AM | William R. Davie Auditorium

Dear 8th Grade Students and Families,

We are excited to celebrate the accomplishments of our 8th grade students during the William R. Davie Middle STEM Academy 8th Grade Promotion/Awards Ceremony. This special event recognizes the hard work, growth, and achievements of our students as they prepare for their next academic chapter.

Please review the following important expectations carefully to ensure a successful and memorable ceremony.

Ceremony Details

  • Date: Tuesday, June 2, 2026
  • Time: 10:00 AM
  • Location: William R. Davie Middle STEM Academy Auditorium
  • Tickets: Each student will receive 6 tickets for guests
  • Important: Every attendee, including young children and Halifax County Schools employees, must have a ticket for entry

Student Dress Code Requirements

Male Students:

  • White dress shirt or white top
  • Black slacks
  • Black tie
  • Black dress shoes

Female Students:

  • Knee-length black or white dress
  • Dresses must NOT be low-cut, midriff-baring, or inappropriate in style
  • White or black shoes only

Dress Code Expectations:

Students not adhering to dress code expectations may not be permitted to participate.

Promotion Eligibility Requirements

Students may NOT participate in the ceremony if they:

  • Are recommended for summer school
  • Owe school fees or outstanding balances
  • Have not returned their Chromebook and charger
  • Do not complete required EOG testing

Event Expectations

  • No balloons allowed inside the building
  • No re-entry once guests exit the ceremony venue
  • Guests are expected to maintain respectful behavior throughout the program
  • Students should arrive on time and prepared for participation

Family Support Matters

We encourage families to support their child by:

  • Ensuring proper attire is secured early
  • Monitoring academic standing and school obligations
  • Returning all school-issued devices and materials on time
  • Supporting strong attendance and EOG participation
