Viking City Band

Mr. Andrew Clements is a dedicated music educator, band director, and professional saxophonist with a passion for helping students discover their musical voices and reach their full potential. A proud product of Savannah State University, Mr. Clements combines his formal music education, professional performance experience, and passion for teaching to create meaningful musical experiences for his students.

Mr. Clements currently serves as the Band Director at William R. Davie STEM Middle School, where he works with students to develop instrumental performance skills, music literacy, ensemble awareness, discipline, teamwork, and confidence. He strives to create a positive and encouraging environment where students can grow as musicians while developing valuable life skills such as perseverance, responsibility, leadership, and collaboration.

In addition to his work as an educator, Mr. Clements is an accomplished professional saxophonist. His experience as a performing musician allows him to bring real-world musical knowledge and performance experience into the classroom. He believes that students benefit from seeing music not only as an academic subject, but also as a form of artistic expression, creativity, communication, and personal growth.

Before becoming the band director at William R. Davie STEM Middle School, Mr. Clements worked as a music teacher at Rocky Mount Preparatory School, where he taught students about music performance, history, appreciation, and musicianship.

Mr. Clements believes that every student has the ability to make music and experience success when given the proper guidance, encouragement, and opportunities. His mission as a band director is to develop confident young musicians, build strong ensembles, and inspire students to appreciate and pursue music both inside and outside the classroom.
