Poe Center Visits William R. Davie Middle STEM Academy

William R. Davie Middle STEM Academy recently welcomed the Poe Center for Health Education for an engaging session titled For the Health of It! for students in grades 6–8. During this 60-minute, interactive program, students explored how alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs can affect their developing brains and bodies.

Through hands-on activities that emphasize “showing, not telling,” students examined real-life scenarios to better understand how substance use can influence actions and decision-making. The session concluded with role-play activities designed to strengthen communication and refusal skills, empowering students to make healthy, informed choices.

This experience supports Davie’s commitment to student wellness, informed decision-making, and whole-child development.
